    Roberto and Mary Wood $5,000 Scholarship Awarded!

    After viewing performances by six of Victoria's talented young classical musicians, Festival's 2017 Roberto and Mary Wood Jurists selected Kate Moran for her outstanding Viola performance. Congratulations Kate! We wish you and all of the other scholarship candidates the very best in your musical endeavors.

    GVPAF was lucky enough to have an official photographer for all Highlights Concerts and Award Ceremonies at Festival 2017. Photos will be available for purchase at www.victoriavisuals.ca. If you are part of a school group, please contact your Festival Section Head to gain access to the section photos.

    Tickets will be available only at the door of the Dave Dunnet Theatre, starting at 5:30PM, general admission, no advance tickets.

    90th Anniversary Concert and Reception at Government House

    For 90 years the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival has been nurturing Victoria's young musicians and performing artists. This could not have been possible without the generous contributions from our loyal donors and the incredible support of our community. Thank you! We would like to show our appreciation to all of you with an invitation to join us for our 90th Anniversary Concert and Reception. The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, has kindly agreed to host this event, which will include a concert featuring distinguished alumni, followed by a catered reception. Come enjoy an evening at Government House, see the talent you have helped foster and connect with other Festival supporters.     ONLINE PROGRAM FOR 2017

    Programs are now available online for everyone to view, allowing performers, their families and friends, and the general public to view the schedule without having to purchase a printed program. Each discipline has a unique program, which can be printed or saved to any device or computer. An annual session pass to all sessions (does not include concerts) and all venues will be available at the door for $25.

    HELP US CREATE A LEGACY

    Our fundraising campaign is in full swing! Our heartfelt thanks to the many donors who have already contributed. Donations raised as part of the 90th Anniversary celebrations will be used to ensure the growth and sustainability of Festival for future generations. To celebrate our valued donors we have invited Festival alumni to perform in a reception and concert to be held at Government House and hosted by Her Honour, The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of B.C., in June of 2017.     Rachel Allen, our 2016 Roberto and Mary Wood Scholarship winner, is one of the featured soloists on Saturday, November 12th when she will be sharing the stage with Andrew Greenwood singing Requiems by Faure and Durufle. First Metropolitan Church, 3:00PM

    The Annual General Meeting

    The Annual General Meeting of GVPAFA was held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. We are pleased to announce that Helen Money was elected Vice-President, with Carolyn Fumalle assuming the Section Head Liaison portfolio. Our sincere thanks to Christine Houghton and Alana Charlton who have retired from the board. If you, or someone you know, is interested in filling our 2 vacant member-at-large positions, please contact the office. We welcome new board members to our board year-round if we have a vacancy.
