The Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival is continuously seeking community involvement to ensure our Board of Directors stays connected and inspired.  We are a volunteer-based organization, dedicated to working with performing arts educators to develop artistic skills and a love of the performing arts for all ages and skill levels in music, dance and speech arts. Our annual community Festival provides reputable professionals who foster inclusion, education, and performance opportunity during adjudicated sessions. Concert Lead Portfolio 

Role
To promote and deliver a vision and style for festival concerts that reflects our goals and values.  To assist in creating a series of Festival concerts that has appeal to the general public and showcases the talent in a professional, ‘higher level’ manner.  This position would best suit someone who has previous experience in fine arts event planning.

Duties

  • Liaise with Section Heads on highlights concerts, and with the President on the Roberto & Mary Wood Scholarship concert

  • Assist with master-of-ceremony script development and ensure that key aspects of concerts (format, programs, signage, acknowledgments etc) reflect a common look and experience for performers and audiences

  • Work closely with board members and office staff to link concerts with marketing & communication initiatives, advertising initiatives, and award and donor campaigns

Capabilities

  • Enthusiastic supporter for students and educators in the performing arts

  • Available time to devote, especially after registrations have closed and concert planning begins (February - May)

Marketing and Communications Portfolio 

Role
To enable our community to know about our annual Festival and understand the value we provide and the values we share.  To establish a consistent and engaging brand messaging to the general public and assist in promoting the performing arts in Greater Victoria.  This position would best suit someone who has previous experience in marketing and communications.

Duties

The Marketing and Communications board member position would work with the Office Administrator and others in:

  • establishing an annual communications plan and budget

  • managing website content 

  • maintaining Festival’s social media presence 

  • placing media advertisements 

  • ordering and distributing Festival collateral materials 

  • distributing Society press releases 

  • selling advertising space in Festival’s annual online performance section programs.

  • A strong understanding of modern communications channels

Volunteer Positions Required

Section Head for Musical Theatre

We are looking for an individual to join the GVPAF Team as the Musical Theatre Section Head.

Role

Help facilitate the performing arts in Greater Victoria and beyond, and to become an integral part of the excitement and support of our performers, parents and teachers. 

Duties

Section Heads are responsible for overseeing their performing arts section over the course of a year, with focus and emphasis on our annual Festival each April/May.  Support provided by the Board of Directors and our Office Administrator.  Knowledge of and/or experience in the applicable section would be helpful.
